From Barretts DEL MAR, Calif. (May 22, 2013) -- On July 21, the first Sunday of the Del Mar race season, Barretts, in cooperationwith the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, will conduct its second annual Paddock Sale at Del Mar featuring “Race Ready” horses in training.

From TOBA LEXINGTON , Ky. (May 16, 2013) -- The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) announced today that it will hold a Thoroughbred Breeding Clinic Friday, May 31 – Sunday, June 2 in Lexington , Ky.  The clinic, sponsored by Blood-Horse Publications, will offer topics including planning a mating, conformation, foal registration, equine nutrition, pasture management, foaling and farm management. The clinic features visits to Machmer Hall, Adena Springs and Darby Dan Farm. A clinic agenda is available here.

From CHRB SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 15, 2013) -- The location for the California Horse Racing Board meeting on Thursday, May 23, 2013, originally scheduled to be in the State Capitol, has been changed to the satellite wagering facility in the clubhouse at Cal Expo at 1600 Exposition Blvd. in Sacramento.

The site replaces cleanhorseracing.org.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Apr. 21, 2013) -- A new Ad Hoc Committee on Racing and Marketing Initiatives will be working with the industry on creative ways to enhance the sport in California.

From AHC WASHINGTON, D.C. (Apr. 18, 2013) -- On April 17, the "Gang of Eight" a bipartisan group of senators, including Senators Schumer (D-NY), McCain (R-AZ), Durbin (D-IL), Graham (R-SC), Menendez (D-NJ), Rubio (R-FL), Bennet (D-CO), and Flake (R-AZ), introduced the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013. The bill would increase border security, provide a path for unauthorized immigrants to remain in the country and eventually apply for citizenship, implement an employment verification system, and improve current and create new temporary guest worker programs.  If comprehensive immigration is debated by Congress in the coming months this bill will likely be the basis for reform.

ALBANY, Calif. (Apr. 17, 2013) -- The Stronach Group announced today that Joe Morris will step down as General Manager of Golden Gate Fields effective June 16, 2013, the conclusion of Golden Gate Fields’ current racing meet.  Joe has accepted the position of president of the Thoroughbred Owners of California (TOC).

From CTFMA BONSALL, Calif. (Apr. 17, 2013) – The planning meeting for the California Thoroughbred Farm Managers Association scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, Apr. 17, has been cancelled.

The meeting has not yet been rescheduled.

From Purina ST. LOUIS, Mo., (Apr. 16, 2013) — Purina Animal Nutrition has pledged up to $150,000 in free feed to rescue shelters through its continuing partnership with A Home for Every Horse, a program dedicated to finding homes for horses in need of adoption or fostering. For the second year in a row, Purina has pledged a base donation of $125,000.

From CHRB ARCADIA, Calif. (Apr. 13, 2013) – The California Horse Racing Board conducted its regular meeting Thursday, April 11, at Santa Anita Park. Chairman David Israel presided. Vice Chairman Chuck Winner and Commissioners Steve Beneto, Jesse Choper, Bo Derek, and Richard Rosenberg were in attendance.

From NTRA WASHINGTON, D.C. (Apr. 11, 2013) -- The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently announced that, as of March 22, 2013, it has temporarily suspended the processing of new H-2B temporary non-agricultural worker visa petitions from employers. As a result, Thoroughbred trainers who rely on the H-2B program for staffing may be unable to hire new H-2B workers until further notice.
