$100,000 Bob Benoit Cal Cup Juvenile ROUSING SERMON

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2011) – Rousing Sermon overtook pacesetter Motown Men at the eighth pole and drew off to win Saturday’s $100,000 Bob Benoit California Cup Juvenile for 2-year-old Cal-breds or Cal-sireds at Santa Anita.

Rousing Sermon is by Lucky Pulpit, out of the Awesome Again mare Rousing Again, was bred by owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams, is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and was ridden by Rafael Bejarano, who also rode Starlight Magic, winner of the Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies one race earlier.

“We’re awfully excited to be able to breed in California,” said Larry Williams. “We sell a few, but run the rest through our Idaho operation and bring them back to California. It’s a lot of fun to be able to breed and race them. For us, we’re running in California, the Cal Cup is terribly important. It works well for us.”

Rousing Sermon has two wins in four starts, earnings of $114,000 and was coming off a third in the Sept. 5 I’m Smokin. Motown Men was second and Stoney Fleece third in a field of nine.

He ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.52, winning by 2 ¼ lengths.
