$60,000 NTRA Stakes (Second Div.) AWESOME INDY

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 23, 2011) – Odds-on favorite Awesome Indy pulled away in midstretch to an easy win in Saturday’s $60,000 NTRA Maiden Stakes (second division) on the Gold Rush card at Hollywood Park.

Awesome Indy is by Golden Missile, out of the Awesome Again mare Morning Jewel, was bred by Mr. and Mrs. Lou Neve, is owned by Carol Lingelfelter and Lloyd Grant, is trained by Marty Jones and was ridden by Rafael Bejarano.

The $17,000 Barretts purchase has one win in two starts, earnings of $46,800 and was coming off a second in a Mar. 5 maiden race.

Awesome Indy ran the 6 ½ furlongs in 1:16.86 and won by eight lengths at odds of 4-5. Nofty was second and Tribal Desert was third.
