LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 6, 2017) – California-bred stakes winner Above Perfection is the dam of Always Dreaming, winner of Saturday’s 143rd running of the Grade I Kentucky Derby.
Always Dreaming, a son of Bodemeister, was bred in Kentucky by Santa Rosa Partners.
Above Perfection, a daughter of In Excess, was bred by Old English Rancho and won seven of 10 starts with earnings of $380,737. She won the Grade III Las Flores Handicap and was second in the Grade I Prioress Stakes in 2001.
