Alert Bay Risks Stakes Streak

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 21, 2014) – Multiple Derby winner Alert Bay is one of five California-breds entered in Friday’s $200,000 Grade II Mathis Brothers Mile Stakes for 3-year-olds at Santa Anita.

Alert Bay is by City Zip, out of the Dushyantor mare Hickory, was bred by Thomas Bell and Ross McLeod, is owned by Peter Redekop and trained by Blaine Wright. He has six wins in 12 starts, earnings of $497,207 and is coming off a three consecutive stakes wins, two of them Derbies, the most recent being the Nov. 26 Zia Park Derby.

Patriots Rule is by Tribal Rule, out of the Seattle Bound mare Candy Factory, was bred by Dahlberg Farms, is owned by Charles Garvey and trained by Robertino Diodoro. He has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of $244,170 and is coming off a third in the Nov. 23 Cary Grant Stakes.

Red Outlaw is by Tribal Rule, out of the Slewpy mare Anachristina, was bred by Liberty Road Stables, is owned by Blinkers On Racing Stable, Aurelio, Bizovi, Coons, Dizonno et al and is trained by Peter Miller. He has six wins in seven starts, earnings of $352,100 and is coming off a fourth in the Nov. 23 Cary Grant.

Ashleyluvssugar is by Game Plan, out of the Urgent Request mare Ashley’s Folly, was bred by owners Alesia, BranJam Stables and Ciaglia Racing and is trained by Peter Eurton. He has three wins in seven starts, earnings of $168,454 and is coming off a win in a Nov. 7 optional claimer.

Awesome Return is by Decarchy, out of the Mr. Broad Blade, mare Awesome Broad, was bred by owner Richard Kritzski and is trained by Mike Puype. He has four wins in nine starts, earnings of $330,780 and is coming off a win in the Nov. 8 Let It Ride.
