Boozer Seeking California Flag

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2016) – Multiple stakes winner Boozer is the highest career earner among those entered in Saturday’s $100,000 California Flag Handicap for Golden State Series eligibles at Santa Anita.

Richard’s Boy is by Idiot Proof, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Marissa’s Joy, was bred by Harold and Pamela Tillema, is owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Peter Miller. He has six wins in 15 starts, earnings of $368,060 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 30 Eddie D.

McHeat is by Unusual Heat, out of the half a Year mare Style of the Year, was bred by owner Madeline Auerbach and is trained by Craig Lewis. He has three wins in 12 starts, earnings of $137,835 and is coming off a 10th in the Sept. 30 Eddie D.

Boozer is by Unusual Heat, out of the Cape Canaveral mare Kitty and Boo, was bred by Abrams, Loverso, Perez, Huston Racing and Auerbach, is owned by Al & Sandee Kirkwood and trained by Mark Glatt. He has seven wins in 27 starts, earnings of $602,096 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 30 Eddie D.

Somethings Unusual is by Vronsky, out of the Unusual Heat mare Unusual Prospect, was bred by Old English Rancho, is owned by Bruce Treitman and trained by Michael McCarthy. He has five wins in 33 starts, earnings of $355,744 and is coming off a win in an Aug. 31 claimer. He was second in this race last year.

Mana Strike is a Washington-bred by California stallion Papa Clem, out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Kirkela, was bred by Bar C Racing Stables, is owned by Lucarelli Racing and trained by Frank Lucarelli. He has two wins in five starts, earnings of $64,930 and is making his first start since a seventh in the Feb. 13 El Camino Real.

Acceptance is by Vronsky, out of the Perfect Mandate mare Allswellthatnswell, was bred by Old English Rancho, is owned by Finish Line Racing or the Ellwood Johnston Trust and is trained by Kenny Black. He has three wins in 10 starts, earnings of $306,803 and is coming off a fifth in a Sept. 30 optional claimer.

Grade II winner Big Bane Theory is by Artie Schiller, out of the Alysheba mare Shebane, was bred by owners Scott Gross and Mark Devereaux and is trained by Carla Gaines. He has four wins in 21 starts, earnings of $391,344 and is coming off a seventh in a Jan. 14 optional claimer.
