Cal-bred Pair in Santa Monica

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 18, 2017) – California-bred stakes winners Bad Ju Ju and Sheer Pleasure are entered in Saturday’s $200,000 Grade II Santa Monica Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.

Bad Ju Ju is by Desert Code, out of the Snow ridge mare Ju Ju Baby, was bred by Lo Hi Racing Stable & Dick Barton, is owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Peter Miller. She has seven wins in 17 starts, earnings of $305,731 and is coming off a win in the Dec. 30 Kalookan Queen.

Sheer Pleasure is by Birdonthewire, out of the Blare of Trumpets mare Kathryns Birthday, was bred by Madera Thoroughbreds, is owned by Little Red Feather Racing or RM Racing and trained by Phil D’Amato. She has four wins in 13 starts, earnings of $403,375 and is making her first start since a sixth in the May 28 Fran’s Valentine.
