SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Aug. 8, 2012) –Five California-breds are entered in Saturday’s $50,000 Wine Country Debutante Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Santa Rosa.
Marks Mine is by Benchmark, out of the Capote mare Ermine Fever, was bred by owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams and is trained by Steven Specht. She won her lone start July 26 and has earnings of $20,330.
Royal Recruit is by Our New Recruit, out of the Herat mare Royal Herat, was bred by owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams and is trained by Steven Specht. She has won both of her starts, most recently the Idaho Equine Hospital – Chris Christian Thoroughbred Futurity July 6 and has earnings of $5,892.
Slightly Gamey is by Alluvial, out of the Chief’s Crown mare Curty, was bred by Willow Tree Farm, is owned by James Connor and Kevin Jacobsen and is trained by John Anderson. She is coming off a maiden start July 16 in her second start with earnings of $8,030.
Egyptian Femme is by Globalize, out of the Precocity mare Zak’s Precocious, was bred by Howard and Alexandra Litt, is owned by William Branch and Marc Doche and is trained by Genaro Vallejo. She has one win in five starts, earnings of $24,165 and is coming off a fifth in the July 7 Juan Gonzalez.
Unusual Way is by Unusual Heat, out of the Great Above mare Way Up, was bred by Thomas Bachman, is owned by Edward Brown Jr. and Philip Lebherz and trained by Jeff Bonde. She has one win in three starts, earnings of $40,560 and is coming off an eighth in the July 14 Landaluce.
