Cal-bred Stakes Winners in El Cajon

DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 27, 2012) – California-bred stakes winners Tribal Tribute and Unusual Heatwave are entered in Friday’s $100,000 El Cajon Stakes for 3-year-olds at Del Mar.

Tribal Tribute is by Tribal Rule, out of the Eastern Echo mare Clarify, was bred by K & J Farm, is owned by Ken Heidt and trained by Tim McCanna. He has three wins in six starts, earnings of $66,332 and is coming off a win in the Aug. 4 Robert Dupret Derby.

Unusual Heatwave is by Unusual Heat, out of the Candi’s Gold mare Miss Alphie, was bred by Montecito Stable, is owned by Ellen and Peter Johnson and Teresa McWilliams and trained by Alexis Barba. He has three wins in 12 starts, earnings of $400,392 and is coming off a win in the Aug. 3 Real Good Deal Stakes.
