Cal-breds Deep in Robert Dupret Derby

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Aug. 1, 2012) – A quartet of California-breds is entered in Saturday’s $50,000 Robert Dupret Derby for 3-year-olds at Santa Rosa.

Tribal Tribute is  by Tribal Rule, out of the Eastern Echo mare Clarify, was bred by K & J Farm, is owned by Ken Heidt and trained by Tim McCanna. He has two wins in five starts, earnings of $25,382 and is coming off a June 28 starter’s allowance win.

Coach Bob is by Bertrando, out of the Yankee Gentleman mare Gentleman’s Hope, was bred by Pam & Marty Wygod, is owned by Tom Gerstel, Reina Gonzalez, Keith Hembree, Jean Hembree et al and is trained by Reina Gonzalez. He has two wins in 13 starts, earnings of $80,108 and is coming off a third in a July 8 allowance.

Teddy the Bear is by America’s Storm, out of the Pivotal mare Carbon Copy, was bred by Fred and Charlene Davis, was owned by Fred Davis and Dave Marshall and is trained by Donna Hjort. He has one win in six starts, earnings of $13,170 and is coming off a fifth in a July 6 starter’s allowance.

Pepnic is by Peppered Cat, out of the Tychonic mare Prochonic, was bred by owner and trainer Alex Paszkiecz. He has one win in nine starts, earnings of $71,163 and is coming off a seventh in a July 8 allowance.
