Cal Cup Early Bird Nominations Due Aug. 12
ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 3, 2010) – Early Bird nominations for California Cup XXI close Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010.
The seven-stakes card for California-bred or –sired, worth $700,000, will be run Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010.
Cost for each Early Bird nomination ranges from $50 to $100, depending on the race, if received by Aug. 12. Regular nominations received by Oct. 16 range are $500 each. Supplementary nominations at time of entry range from $2,250 to $4,500, depending on the race.
The seven stakes:
$150,000 Cal Cup Classic presented by City National Bank for 3 & Up at 1 1/8 miles.
$100,000 John C. Mabee Cal Cup Mile for 3 & Up at one mile (turf).
$100,000 Donald Valpredo Cal Cup Sprint for 3 & Up at six furlongs.
$100,000 CTT/TOC Cal Cup Matron for F&M 3 & Up at 1 1/16 miles.
$100,000 John Deere Cal Cup Distaff for F&M 3 & Up at about 6 ½ furlongs (turf).
$75,000 Bob Benoit Cal Cup Juvenile for C&G 2 Yrs. at seven furlongs.
$75,000 Robert H. Walter Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies for F 2 Yrs. at seven furlongs.
The rest of the card will consist of three maiden special weight races for Cal-breds and Cal–sired.
This year’s Cal Cup party theme is Halloween Boo-nanza and will be held on the frontside at Club Court. The entrance to Club Court is located to the right of the Turf Club and Will Call at the main entrance to the racetrack.
This party has truly become a very special part of the Cal Cup celebration, and last fall more than 1,500 people filled the section of the infield reserved for supporters of the California Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry.
