California Breeding Stats Increase

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 22, 2014) – California showed an increase in mares bred and stallions standing in 2014, according to The Jockey Club.

There were 2,472 mares bred in California this year, a six percent increase from last year and the first increase since 2002.

There were 143 stallions standing in the state, a 5.1 percent increase from last year and the first increase since 2004. California was the only state in the top seven to show an increase in stallions standing.
