California Registers Breeding Gains

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 22, 2015) – California registered gains in 2015 for stallions standing and mares bred, according to figures compiled by The Jockey Club.
The number of stallions standing in 2015 was 150, compared to 143 in 2014, a 4.9 percent increase.
The number of mares bred in 2015 was 2,568, compared to 2,472 in 2014, a 3.88 percent increase.
Of the top five states that breed thoroughbreds, California was one of only two states that showed increases in both stallions standing and mares bred.
