ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2012) – Sensational Daytona Stakes winner Caracortado, defending champion Compari and half-brothers Luckarack and Tamarack Smarty meet in Saturday’s $100,000 Sensational Star Stakes for California-breds at Santa Anita.
Caracortado is by Cat Dreams, out of the Maria’s Mon mare Mons Venus, was bred by Mike Machowsky, is owned by AJL Productions, Blahut Racing and Lo Hi Racing and trained by Machowsky. He has nine wins in 19 starts, earnings of $864,105 and is coming off an out-of-the-clouds win in the Jan. 8 Daytona Stakes.
Luckarack is by Lucky Pulpit, out of the Dehere mare Tamarack Bay, was bred by Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams, is owned by W.C. Racing, Westside Rentals.com and Russ Sarno and is trained by Doug O’Neill. He has seven wins in 17 starts, earnings of $287,770 and is coming off a fourth in the Dec. 26 Malibu.
Ain’t No Other is by Old Topper, out of the Shadeed mare Miami Margie, was bred by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is trained by Steve Miyadi. He has six wins in 12 starts, earnings of $224,123 and is coming off a second in a Dec. 16 allowance.
