From Barretts POMONA, Calif. (Aug. 20, 2012) -- The 2012 Barretts October Yearling Sale will now be conducted on Tuesday, October 9 beginning at 1 p.m.

DEL MAR, Calif, (Aug. 17, 2012) -- The California Horse Racing Board will conduct its regular meeting Thursday, August 23,  at the Surfside Race Place (simulcast facility) at Del Mar Race Track beginning at 9:30 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend. An audio-only Webcast of this and all regular monthly Board meetings can be heard through the “Webcasts” link on the CHRB Website (www.chrb.ca.gov). The audio archive for past meetings also is available on the Website.

From The Jockey Club SARATOGA, SPRINGS, N.Y. (Aug. 14, 2012) -- Programs centered on the uniformity of rules, drug testing and drug testing research as well as intensive investigative and educational initiatives have enabled the Olympic movement to better protect the rights of athletes and preserve the integrity of competition and could be an example for Thoroughbred racing to follow, according to Travis T. Tygart, the chief of executive officer of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

(Aug. 4, 2012) -- Thoroughbred Owners of California (TOC) invites all members to the Southern California Annual Meeting on Saturday, August 25 at 8:30 a.m. in the Veranda Café at Del Mar Racetrack.  The general business meeting will allow directors an opportunity to bring the membership up to date on important issues and will include a question-and-answer session.   A complimentary buffet breakfast will be served.

From California Farm Bureau AB 1313 (Michael Allen, D-Santa Rosa) is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Appropriations Committee on August 6.  Farm Team members have been helpful on this issue in the past, and we need your help again today.

From TOC ARCADIA, Calif. (July 27, 2012) -- The California Thoroughbred Business League (CTBL) has renewed its agreement for a statewide workers' compensation program with Finish Line Self Insurance Group (FSLIG).  The program renewal became effective July 1, 2012. Unfortunately, due to higher workers’ compensation costs and a continuing decline in the pool of available subsidy funding, the new program will have changes to Jockey Mount premiums as described below. However, Starter Fees have not been reduced.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 26, 2012) -- The Jockey Club reminds stallion managers to submit their Reports of Mares Bred (RMBs) for the 2012 breeding season by August 1.

DEL MAR, Calif. (July 20, 2012) – The California Horse Racing Board conducted its regular meeting Thursday, July 19, at the Surfside Race Place in Del Mar. Chairman Keith Brackpool presided. Vice Chairman David Israel and Commissioners Steve Beneto, Jesse Choper, Bo Derek, Richard Rosenberg, and Chuck Winner were in attendance.

From NTRA WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 20, 2012) -- Both the House and the Senate recently considered the next version of the sweeping five-year farm bill. The Senate passed its farm bill last month, while the House Agriculture Committee passed its version last week. The next step in the lower chamber is a vote on the House floor and that may not occur before the November elections.

From CHRB SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 13, 2012) – Claimed horses that do not win the races in which they were claimed will be eligible to race within 25 days at the same level after a regulatory amendment approved by the California Horse Racing Board goes into effect July 25. The long-standing requirement for a claimed horse to run for a higher price when raced within 25 days of the claim will only apply to race winners.
