SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Aug. 2, 2015) – Favored Central Heat rallied three-wide to win Sunday’s 61,505 Luther Burbank Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Rosa.
Central Heat is by Unusual Heat, out of the Smart Strike mare Miss Boomtown, was bred by Abrams, Huston Racing, Matties Racing and Auerbach, is owned by Del Debbio, Delia and Rocheford and is trained by William Delia.
She has 13 wins in 32 starts, earnings of $295,791 and was coming off a win in the May 9 Golden Poppy. It was her seventh win in the last eight starts.
Central Heat ran the 1 1/16 miles on turf in 1:44.30 and won by 1 ¼ lengths over Meeting Waters, with Aguafria third in the field of six.
