DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (Jan. 31, 2016) —California Chrome recorded his first timed workout in Dubai Jan. 30, when he covered four furlongs in :48 2/5 and galloped out to six furlongs in 1:13, according to a post on the 2014 Horse of the Year’s official Facebook page.
The post cited assistant trainer Alan Sherman and said the 5-year-old son of Lucky Pulpit owned by Perry Martin and Taylor Made Farm, “worked like a beast this morning.”
California Chrome, who departed from his home base at Los Alamitos Race Course Jan. 21, is scheduled to run in a 2,000-meter (about 1 1/4 miles) handicap Feb. 25 at Meydan Racecourse to prep for the March 26 Dubai World Cup (UAE-I).
