STOCKTON, Calif. (Sept. 22, 2012) – California-bred longshot Cougarstown went wire to wire to win Saturday’s $68,250 Harvest Stakes for fillies and mares at Stockton.
Cougarstown is by Speightstown, out of the Bertrando mare Fair Apache, was bred by Rod and Lorraine Rodriguez, is owned by Theresa and Edward DeNike and is trained by Keith Nations.
She has three wins in nine starts, earnings of $100,371 and was coming off a fourth in an Aug. 19 allowance.
She ran the six furlongs in 1:08.81 and won by three-quarters of a length at odds of 18-1.
