Distaff Draws Unzip Me and Full Field

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2011) – The presence of multiple graded winner Unzip Me didn’t scare off the competition as a full field of 14 is entered in Saturday’s $125,000 John Deere California Cup Distaff, for Cal-breds or Cal-sireds fillies and mares at Santa Anita.

Sugarinthemorning is by Candy Ride, out of the In Excess mare Social Belle, was bred by Stephen Weissman, is owned by Weissman and Clement and trained by Ron McAnally. She has five wins in 10 starts, earnings of $247,834 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 4 Torrey Pines.

West Ruler is by Tribal Rule, out of the Mr. Greeley mare West Greeley, was bred by James Wong, is owned by La Cresta Farms and trained by John Sadler. She has five wins in 11 starts, earnings of $218,296 and is coming off a win in an Aug. 31 optional claimer.

Strawberry Tart is by Atticus, out of the Strawberry Road mare Mylittletart, was bred by Valentine Farm, is owned by George or Mary Clare Schmitt and trained by Jeff Bonde. The $13,500 Barretts purchase has four wins in 16 starts, earnings of $187,625 and is coming off a sixth in the Sept. 7 CERF.
