Evening Jewel, Compari Head Gold Rush Nominations

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 6, 2010) -- Nominations received for California Gold Rush XI Friday included recent stakes winners Evening Jewel, Compari, Caracortado and Unzip Me.

Evening Jewel, who just won the Grade I Ashland Stakes, is nominated for the $150,000 Melair Stakes for 3-year-old fillies along with Repo and La Nez.

La Nez is also nominated for the $200,000 Snow Chief Stakes, along with Caracortado and Alphie’s Bet.

The $125,000 B. Thoughtful could come up tough with nominees including Unzip Me, You Lift Me Up, U R All That I Am and former Melair winner Pretty Unusual.

In the $125,000 Tiznow Stakes, defending champion Liberian Freighter could be in tough with the likes of Compari, Red Sun Enriched, Unusual Suspect and Rush With Thunder also nominated.

Gold Rush is a program of eight stakes races exclusively for California-breds and Cal-Sireds, and will be held Saturday, April 24, at Hollywood Park.

The Races:
The $200,000 Snow Chief Stakes, for 3-year-olds, at 1 1/8 miles.
The $150,000 Melair Stakes for 3-year-old fillies, at 1 1/16 miles.
The $125,000 B. Thoughtful Stakes, for fillies and mares 4 & up, at 7 ½ furlongs.
The $125,000 Tiznow Stakes, for 4-year-olds and up, at 7 ½ furlongs.
The $70,000 Grey Memo Stakes, for 3-year-olds and up (non-winners once), at seven furlongs.
The $70,000 Warren’s Thoroughbred Stakes, for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and up (non-winners once), at seven furlongs.
The $60,000 NTRA Stakes, for 3-year-olds and up maiden colts and geldings, at 6 ½ furlongs.
The $60,000 Alphabet Kisses Stakes, for 3-year-olds and up maiden fillies and mares, at 6 ½ furlongs.
