Graduation Stakes Draws Field of 11

DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 3, 2017) – Sunday’s $100,000 Graduation Stakes for Golden State Series eligible 2-year-olds at Del Mar drew a competitive field of 11.

Sir Valentine is by Heat Shield, out of the Popular mare Horsesanddivorces, was bred by Kristin Mulhall, is owned by Tachycardia Stables or Twilight Racing and is trained by Mulhall. He has one win in two starts, earnings of $34,400 and is coming off a fifth in the July 3 Santa Anita Juvenile.

Smokem is by Union Rags, out of the Smoke Glacken mare One Smokin’ Lady, was bred by Terry Lovingier, is owned by Bada Beng Racing, Flores or Lovingier and is trained by Gary Sherlock. He won his lone start July 21 with earnings of $36,000.

Bookies Luck is by Lucky Pulpit, out of the Johannesburg mare Book’em Babe, was bred by owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams and is trained by Jeff Bonde. He has one win in three starts, earnings of $47,304 and is coming off a June 18 maiden win.

Schulace is by Champ Pegasus, out of the Holy Bull mare Tillie Lou, was bred by owner Richard Barton Enterprises and is trained by Mike Machowsky. He has one win in two starts, earnings of $51,400 and is coming off a second in the July 8 Everett Nevin.
