Haynesfield to Rancho San Miguel

From Rancho San Miguel

SAN MIGUEL, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2016) – Grade I winning millionaire Haynesfield has been acquired by Climax Stallions, a new venture of Bob and Sean Feld, and will be relocated to Rancho San Miguel for the 2017 breeding season.

“We are very excited to offer Haynesfield, a leading son of Speightstown, to California breeders. Speightstown is quickly becoming a sire of sires allowing Haynesfield and the Speightstown line a chance to really thrive on the West Coast,” said Sean Feld.

Haynesfield was a wire-to-wire winner of a six-furlong maiden special as a 2-year-old at Belmont and a stakes winner as a juvenile; overall he won 10 races from 19 starts.

Haynesfield is out of a Grade II-placed stakes winner Nothing Special, by Tejabo, Haynesfield captured the 2010 Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (Gr. I) and seven other stakes and earned more than $1.3 million.

Racing for the ownership of Turtle Bird Stable’s Haynesfield, was honored as New York-bred Horse of the Year twice.

“Haynesfield gave us a lot of thrills and memories over the last four seasons but the race that will always stand out was his decisive win in the Jockey Club Gold Cup over Blame, handing Blame his only loss that year; beating Blame in a Grade I at equal weights in his championship season was a tremendous accomplishment by a gifted horse,” said Toby Sheets, assistant to trainer Steve Asmussen.

Second-crop sire Haynesfield will be the only stakes-winning son of Speightstown, a young and upcoming sire of sires, standing in the west.

In 2016, Haynesfield is the sire of three stakes winners including the juvenile Gifted Justice, winner of the $100,000 Hillsdale Stakes and He’ll Pay, winner of the $100,000 Rushaway Stakes.

At auction in his first crop, foals of 2013, there were 75 offered for sale, 53 sold, for an average of $55,965. His crop of 2015 numbers 76 foals to begin racing in 2017.

Haynesfield will stand for $5,000 as the Property of Climax Stallions and will be available in California next week for inspection. To inquire about breeding or syndication interest, contact Sean Feld at 859-519-9665 or climaxstallions@yahoo.com
