ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2014) – Velvet Mesquite is the lone California-bred entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III Sen. Ken Maddy Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Velvet Mesquite is by In Excess, out of the Huddle Up mare Mesquite, was bred by owner Harris Farms and is trained by Blake Heap.
She has five wins in nine starts, earnings of $240,606 and is coming off a win in the Oct. 11 California Distaff.
