Lady Railrider Seeks Repeat in Matron

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2010) – Lady Railrider returns in an attempt to defend her crown in Saturday’s $100,000 CTT/TOC California Cup Matron Stakes for fillies and mares at Oak Tree at Hollywood Park.

Camille C is by Roman Dancer, out of the Rahy mare Paris Operetta, was bred by Rod and Lorraine Rodriguez, is owned by Carlos Polanco and trained by Mercelo Polanco. The $4,200 Barretts purchase has three wins in 15 starts, earnings of $287,551 and is making her first start since a seventh in the July 31 Fleet Treat Stakes. The multiple stakes winner was second in last year’s Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita.

Warren’s Jitterbug is by Affirmative, out of the Peaks and Valleys mare Jitterbug Jan, was bred by owner Benjamin Warren and is trained by Jorge Gutierrez. She has three wins in 15 starts, earnings of $218,238 and is coming off a ninth in the Oct. 17 Harold Ramser Handicap.

Tiz Smoke Tiz Fire is by Cee’s Tizzy, out of the General Meeting mare Sunset Serenade, was bred by Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Nierenberg, is owned by Michael Bello, Jack Mandato and Russell Sarno and trained by Doug O’Neill. The $8,500 Barretts purchase is coming off a maiden win in her ninth start with earnings of $49,110.

Catsalot is by Momentum, out of the Kendor mare Clerical Error, was bred by J. Paul Reddam, is owned by Magalen O’Bryant and trained by Leonard Powell. She has four wins in 24 starts, earnings of $199,421 and is coming off a third in an Oct. 16 allowance. She was second in last year’s Cal Cup Distance Handicap at Santa Anita.

Ruffled Feathers is by Include, out of the Awesome Again mare Diane Again, was bred by Legacy Ranch, is owned by Steven Lavino, Michael Riordan, Anthony Shaw and Richard Bronson and trained by Patrick Gallagher. She has four wins in 17 starts, earnings of $228,540 and is coming off a fourth in the Oct. 10 Swingtime.

Ultra Blend is by Richly Blended, out of the Desert Classic mare Ankha, was bred by BnD Chase Thoroughbreds and Elven Adams, is owned by Nels Erickson and trained by Steve Sherman. The multiple stakes winner has five wins in 15 starts, earnings of $257,246 and is coming off a third in a Sept. 23 allowance.

Lady Railrider is by Ride the Rails, out of the Lord Carson mare Lady Evergreen, was bred by owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams and trained by Steve Specht. She has seven wins in 20 starts, earnings of $413,180 and is coming off a second in a Sept. 23 allowance. She won this race last year at Santa Anita.
