ALBANY, Calif. (Jan. 1, 2010) -- California-bred Antares World seized command on the turn and held on for a narrow victory in the $75,000 California Oaks for 3-year-old fillies on Friday at Golden Gate Fields.

Sent off as the second wagering choice at odds of 2.20-to-1, the Decarchy filly scored by a head from Fashion Trend to earn her first stakes victory. She completed her first start at 1 1/16 miles in 1:45.75 under Frank Alvarado on the synthetic Tapeta Footings surface.

Antares World won two of five starts in 2009 and entered off a head defeat in the one-mile Corte Madera Stakes on December 5 at Golden Gate. She broke her maiden going six furlongs in October at the Bay Area track then posted a 1� length victory in an optional claiming race in her first start at a mile on November 18 prior to the
Corte Madera.

Trained by Steve Specht for owners-breeders Mr. and Mrs. Larry D. Williams, Antares World has won half of her six career starts and finished off the board only once for career earnings of $108,978. She is one of two winners from three starters out of the winning Spinning World mare Alashir�s World.
