ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 27, 2010) -- Three-time California-bred stakes winner Epic Power has been retired at age 9 to Leigh Grays facility in Bradbury, where he will be retrained as a riding horse.

Epic Power amassed 13 victories from 75 career starts and earned $778,173. He won the 2006 California Cup Mile Handicap during the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meeting and the 2007 TVG Khaled Stakes and Korbel Handicap at Hollywood Park for trainer Jack Carava and owner Ron Valentas La Canada Stables.

"Hes doing terrific at the farm there, and I dont think hes been off the racetrack before this," Carava said. "It was time for him to retire. He was too smart and just wasnt trying anymore, but the good thing is, he retired sound. He was a popular horse because hed been around so long and had a lot of fans."
