Ernest Auerbach Passes at 93

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (Feb. 4, 2010) --- Longtime California breeder and owner Ernest Auerbach, owner of E. A. Ranches, passed away this week. He was 93.

Auerbach, a member of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association since 1979, was a Brooklyn, N.Y., native, According to his bio listed on the NTRA website, he began in the wholesale produce business and later got into real estate and land development.

He bought land in West Los Angeles and Santa Monica that became worth many times its purchase price. Auerbach was a horse player at an early age, often skipping school to attend the races at Aqueduct.

Among the stakes winners Auerbach raced are Belle�s Flag, Tres Paraiso, Lottery Winner, Queen of Wilshire and Grab the Prize.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be sent to the Jewish Health Center L.A., Jewish World Service, or the charity of your choice.
