Bob Black Jack Wins Comeback

ARCADIA, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2010) -- Bob Black Jack returned to the races Saturday as if he never left 14 months ago, rolling to a speedy victory in the $150,000 Grade II San Carlos Handicap at Santa Anita.

Bob Black Jack is by Stormy Jack, out of the Native Prospector mare Mollys Prospector, was bred by Gary Howard, Marlene Howard and Bruce Dunmore, was foaled at Hideaway Farms, is owned by Jeff Harmon and Tim Kasparoff and trained by James Kasparoff.

The $4,500 Barretts purchase has five wins in 11 starts, earnings of $684,925 and was making his first start since winning the Grade I Malibu Stakes Dec. 26, 2008.

"Were looking at some races back east, and obviously keeping some races in mind out here," said James Kasparoff. "The Potrero Grande (Handicap, Grade II, $150,000, 6 furlongs on April 3) is a possibility; Dubai (Golden Shaheen on March 27) is a possibility; so is the Gulfstream Handicap on March 21. Its a one-turn mile, but its all going to be based on how he comes out of the race."

Bob Black Jack ran the seven furlongs in 1:21.05 and won by 2 lengths at odds of 4-1.
