Early-bird Noms Released for Sunshine Millions

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 23, 2009) -- California-bred champion Lava Man and Breeders� Cup Sprint champion Dancing in Silks head a list of 174 early-bird nominations for Sunshine Millions VIII, to be held Jan. 30, 2010 at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park for horses bred in California and Florida.

The most nominations received for any of the six races were 37 for the $200,000 Sunshine Millions Sprint at Gulfstream Park; the fewest received were 19 for the $300,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff at Gulfstream Park.

Among the Cal-breds nominated for the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park are Lava Man, Bold Chieftain and the filly Lethal Heat, who was also nominated for the $300,000 Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita and the $200,000 Filly & Mare Sprint at Santa Anita.

Lava Man also is nominated for the $300,000 Turf at Gulfstream Park.

Bootleg Annie and Saucey Evening are also nominated for the Filly & Mare Turf; Strawberry Tart and U R All That I Am are nominated for the Filly & Mare Sprint and You Lift Me Up heads the Cal-breds on the list for the Distaff.

Leading the Cal-bred pack for the Turf is multiple graded winner The Usual Q. T., joined by Acclamation and Unusual Suspect. Cost of Freedom, third in the Breeders� Cup Sprint, and Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Run Brother Ron are also nominated for the Sprint.
