ALBANY, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2016) –Veteran race caller Frank Mirahmadi will be the full-time track announcer at Golden Gate Fields when fall racing begins Oct. 20.
Mirahmadi brings more than 20 years of professional experience to the bayside oval.
The Los Angeles native will head to the Northern California track after calling the races at Monmouth Park, which ended its season Sept 25. Mirahmadi’s first day at Golden Gate will be on his 49th birthday.
“Golden Gate Fields is one of the most beautiful racing venues in the country, and I’m excited to come back and announce the races there,” Mirahmadi said. “I can’t wait to celebrate my birthday doing a job that I love at a place as special as Golden Gate Fields.”
Mirahmadi’s career began when he called his first race at Hollywood Park in 1992. His first full-time announcing job was at Hialeah Park in South Florida, where he called from 1996 until the historic track ended Thoroughbred racing in 2001. His career has taken him to the rooftops of Louisiana Downs, Oaklawn Park, Santa Anita Park, and the Northern California circuit, where he called at Golden Gate during the spring of 2016.
“We are delighted to have Frank back in the announcer’s booth at Golden Gate Fields. He is undoubtedly one of the best race callers in the country, and we are very fortunate to have him calling our races,” said Joe Morris, senior vice president of west coast operations for The Stronach Group.
Mirahmadi will be replacing Angela Hermann, who recently accepted a job as paddock analyst at Santa Anita. Hermann will make her debut in Southern California Sept. 30, when the Arcadia, Calif., track opens for its annual fall meet.
