NorCal Grad Wins at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 15, 2011) – Favored Gab Power, a $2,200 purchase at the 2009 Northern California Yearling Sale, rallied late to win a $66,750 allowance optional claiming race at Del Mar Sunday with a winner’s purse of $39,000.

Gab Power is by Powerscourt, out of the Bertrando mare Gabby Dancer, was bred by Sutherland Farm, is owned by Sharon Alesia, Bran Jam Stables and Ciaglia Racing and is trained by Peter Eurton.

The 3-year-old Gab Power has four wins in 13 starts with earnings of $154,704.

Gab Power went off as the 3-2 favorite, ran the 1 1/16 miles on turf in 1:41.97 and won by one-half length.

The 2011 Northern California Yearling and Horses of Racing Age Sale will be held Tuesday at noon at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa.
