DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 8, 2013) – Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Brilliant Melody won the third race at Del Mar Thursday, an allowance optional claimer.
Brilliant Melody is a 4-year-old filly by Bertrando, out of the Tale of the Cat mare Unchanged Melody, was bred by Pam and Marty Wygod, is owned by Great Friends Stable, Dave Kenney and Martin Gardner and is trained by Doug O’Neill.
Brilliant Melody, a $13,500 purchase at the 2010 Northern California Yearling Sale, ran the five furlongs on turf in :55.80 and won by 1 ¼ lengths at odds of 7-1.
She has three wins in nine starts and earnings of $103,590.
