Norvsky Repeats in California Dreamin’

DEL MAR, Calif. (July 22, 2012) – Favored Norvsky successfully defended his $100,000 California Dreamin’ Stakes title Sunday with a half-length win over California-breds at Del Mar.

Norvsky is by Vronsky, out of the Flying Paster mare Fimbrelith, was bred by Old English Rancho, is owned by E.W. and Judy Johnston and Robert Riggio and is trained by Donald Warren. Old English Rancho and Warren won Saturday’s Eddie Read with Acclmation.

He has seven wins in 23 starts, earnings of $606,444 and was coming off a second in a June 16 optional claimer. He won this race last year.

“We’ll be looking at the Cal Cup Classic (October 11 at Santa Anita) but we’ve got to find something more for him to do down here,” said Warren. “We’ll see what we can find. There’s a possibility I might take a shot in the Del Mar Mile (Grade II, $200,000 August 26).”
