One Fast Broad Gets a Break

DEL MAR, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2017) – One Fast Broad will not race until early 2018 after winning the first stakes of her career in the $200,345 Golden State Juvenile Fillies last Friday at Del Mar.

Owner and trainer Mick Ruis said One Fast Broad will be pointed to the Santa Anita winter-spring meeting. Bolt d’Oro, the beaten favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on Saturday, will have the same schedule as One Fast Broad.

“We’ll give her 60 days, like Bolt d’Oro,” Ruis said. “We’ll let her grow up and get ready for her 3-year-old campaign. She deserves a little break.”

One Fast Broad closed from last in a field of nine to win the seven-furlong Golden State Juvenile Fillies for statebreds by a length over Spiced Perfection. One Fast Broad has won 2 of 4 starts and earned $172,000.

By Decarchy, One Fast Broad was second in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf on Sept. 4 and fourth in the Surfer Girl Stakes at a mile on turf Oct. 9 at Santa Anita. She is unbeaten in two starts on dirt, beginning with a six-furlong maiden race for California-bred fillies here Aug. 4.
