Richard’s Boy Eyes Hong Kong Trip

DEL MAR, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2017) – Rockingham Ranch’s Stormy Liberal and California-bred Richard’s Boy, 1-2 finishers in the recent Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Del Mar, could resume the rivalry in the Dec. 10 Group I Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin, according to a report in Bloodhorse.com.

Stormy Liberal has been accepted for the race and Richard’s Boy, who lost to Stormy Liberal by a head in the Turf Sprint, is awaiting an invitation. Both are trained by Peter Miller.

“(There’s) something about this horse that just likes to run,” said Rockingham Ranch racing manager Brian Trump. “So we have asked for an invite and the Hong Kong Jockey Club is waiting on the results of their trial race this weekend to see if Richard will get an invite.”

Richard’s Boy is by Idiot Proof, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Marissa’s Joy and was bred by Harold and Pamela Tillema. He has nine wins in 27 starts, earnings of $848,440 and has won races at five different tracks.
