PLEASANTON, Calif. (Aug. 9, 2011) – A California-bred filly by Kentucky stallion Scat Daddy figures to be one of the stars of the Northern California Yearling and Horses of Racing Age Sale to be held Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.
The filly, Hip 55, is the first foal out of the Commendable mare Illybilly, a stakes-winner of $116,997. Illybilly is a half-sister to stakes winner Extra Bend. Hip 55 is consigned by Colleen Turpin-Boyce, agent.
Scat Daddy is a multiple Grade I winner of more than $1.3 million whose first foals are 2-year-olds of 2011. Scat Daddy, a son of Johannesburg, won the Grade I Champagne Stakes as a 2-year-old and the Grade I Florida Derby as a 3-year-old.
Other stallions that also have a first crop of 2-year-olds this year and are represented by yearlings in the sale are Don’tsellmeshort and Awesome Gambler. The stallions that have a first crop of yearlings this year and are represented in the sale are Bedford Falls, Lucky J. H. and McCann’s Mojave.
