POMONA, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2012) – Three California-breds brought six-figure prices at Tuesday’s Barretts October Yearling Sale, led by a sales-topping $150,000 Bertrando colt.
Hip No. 206, the colt by Bertrando, is out of the unraced Tale of the Cat mare Telling Stories, was consigned by breeder Willow Tree Farm and purchased by Arnold Zetcher for $150,000.
Hip No. 92, a colt by Unusual Heat, is out of the Swiss Yodeler mare Helen’s Echo, who is a full sister to Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Thor’s Echo. The colt was bred by Josh Cantor, Tony Finn, T. Mitchell, S. Wenguer and P. Sowa, was consigned by West 12 Ranch, agent, and purchased by Hartley-De Renzo Thoroughbreds for $120,000.
Hip No. 216 is a colt by Majestic Warrior, out of the Tale of the Cat mare Treed Cat, was bred by Jack Hatch, consigned by Green Acres Stable, agent, and was purchased by Hartley-De Renzo Thoroughbreds for $110,000.
