ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2011) – Soul Candy, who won this race on synthetic at Hollywood Park in 2010, will attempt an unusual repeat in Saturday’s $175,000 California Cup Classic, presented by City National Bank, for Cal-breds or Cal-sireds at 1 1/8 miles on the Santa Anita turf course.
Soul Candy is by Birdonthewire, out of the Lil Tyler mare Just Satisfaction, was bred by Madera Thoroughbreds, is owned by E Z Eight Racing Stable and Madera Thoroughbreds and trained by Patrick Gallagher. He has four wins in 17 starts, earnings of $314,300 and is coming off a fifth in the Aug. 28 Del Mar Handicap. He won the Cal Cup Classic last year at Hollywood Park at 1 1/8 miles on synthetic.
