ALBANY, Calif. (June 9, 2013) – Odds-on favorite Surfcup led all the way to win Sunday’s $100,000 Silky Sullivan Stakes at Golden Gate for 3-year-olds eligible for the Golden State Series.
Surfcup is by Unusual Heat, out of the Runaway Groom mare Omi Princess, was bred by owner Donald Dizney and trained by Bob Baffert.
He has four wins in seven starts, earnings of $335,800 and was coming off a win in the Mar. 27 Snow Chief Stakes.
Surfcup ran the mile on turf in 1:37.54 and won by a length over Gervinho at odds of 9-10. Tebows Big Play was third in the field of seven.
