Teddy’s Promise Returns in Distaff

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2012) – Grade I winner Teddy’s Promise returns from a three-month break in Saturday’s first division of the $100,000 John Deere Cal Cup Distaff for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.

Cat’s Cradle Stakes winner Tiz Flirtatious is by Tizbud, out of the Victory Gallop mare Masquerade Belle, was bred by owner Pamela Ziebarth and trained by Martin Jones. She has three wins in four starts, earnings of $134,800 and is coming off a third in the La Canada.

Tasty Treat is by Roar, out of the American Chance mare Vividora, was bred by John Greely III, is owned by Cunningham Stable and trained by Michael Pender. The $30,000 Barretts purchase has four wins in 11 starts, earnings of $161,074 and is coming off a win in an Aug. 22 optional claimer.

Grade I winner Teddy’s Promise is by Salt Lake, out of the Capote mare Braids and Beads, was bred by owners Ted and Judy Nichols and trained by Ron Ellis. She has six wins in 17 starts, earnings of $418,681 and is making her first start since a fifth in the July 14 A Gleam.

River Kiss is by Awesome Gambler, out of the Rio Verde mare River Cutie, was bred by Terry Lovingier, is owned by Beckerle, Lovingier, Winter, Zondlo and Templeton Horses and trained by Doug O’Neill. She has two wins in 11 starts, earnings of $152,926 and is coming off a fourth in the Sept. 7 Beverly Lewis.

Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Sizzling Gold is by Formal Gold, out of the Regal Intention mare Rosana’s Intention, was bred by John Murphy and is owned by trainer George Lopez. The $9,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase has 10 wins in 32 starts, earnings of $181,577 and is coming off a fourth in an Oct. 5 optional claimer.

Warren’s Amber is by Broadway Moon, out of the Mud Route mare I’m a Cat’s Meow, was bred by owner Benjamin Warren and trained by Jorge Gutierrez. She has two wins in 11 starts, earnings of $223,550 and is coming off an eighth in the Sept. 2 Torrey Pines.

Miss Becca is by Marino Marini, out of the In Excess mare Excessiveability, was bred by owners Dennis Connor and Wade Jacobsen and trained by Peter Eurton. She has four wins in nine starts, earnings of $124,990 and is coming off a win in an Aug. 23 optional claimer.
