CARMEL VALLEY, Calif., (August 3, 2010)----The Southern California based organization, TROTT (Training Racehorses Off The Track), a 501(C)(3) nonprofit founded in December 2009, has joined with historic Stonepine Estate Resort and Equestrian Center in Carmel Valley, to open a second California re-training facility.
Bonnie Adams, Founder and President of TROTT, and her group of volunteers, transition these athletes from the track into new careers. In a very short timeframe, due to support from within the industry, TROTT is ready to expand.
“The historic significance of Stonepine, built in 1928 by Henry Potter Russell, founder and first President of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association – known at that time as the premier breeding farm west of the Mississippi -- is most inspiring,” said Adams. http://www.stonepinecarmel.com/
Current owners since 1984, Gordon and Noel Hentschel continue the tradition of equestrian excellence at Stonepine, while coming back to its roots of Thoroughbred horse racing. They agree sport horse enthusiasts throughout the Central Coast and Bay Area will benefit from the quality TROTT horses that will be available for adoption at Stonepine Equestrian Center.
With its illustrious racing past, its unparalleled beauty nestled amid 330 acres in Carmel Valley, and its five-star training facilities, Adams considers this a great opportunity for the talented horses who leave the track in California.
“Having a venue such as Stonepine in which to hold events that will benefit the ex-racehorses as they prepare for their second careers, is truly worthy of saving the date,” said Adams.
