Turf Sprinters Vie in California Flag

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 18, 2017) – Graded winner Gold Rush Dancer and turf sprint specialist Richard’s Boy are entered in Saturday’s $100,000 California Flag Stakes for Golden State Series eligible at Santa Anita.

California Diamond is by Harbor the Gold, out of the Slewdledo mare Carrie’s a Jewel, was bred by Stormy Hull, is owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Peter Miller. He has five wins in 12 starts, earnings of $469,625 and is coming off an eighth in the Sept. 29 Eddie D.

Gold Rush Dancer is by Private Gold, out of the In Excess mare Dances On Water, was bred by owner John Parker and is trained by Vann Belvoir. He has six wins in 19 starts, earnings of $512,113 and is coming off a sixth in the Sept. 9 E.B. Johnston.

Dr. Troutman is by Vronsky, out of the Cindago mare Black Valentine, was bred by owner Kretz Racing and is trained by George Papaprodromou. He has one win in 12 starts, earnings of $80,070 and is coming off a fourth in an Aug. 18 allowance.

El Tovar is by Decarchy, out of the Far North mare Mariah Reyna, was bred by Clark Hansen & Janine Hansen, is owned by Next Wave Racing, Dunn or Peskoff and is trained by Richard Baltas. He has four wins in 27 starts, earnings of $149,253 and is coming off a third in an Aug. 19 allowance.

Richard’s Boy is by Idiot Proof, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Marissa’s Joy, was bred by Harold and Pamela Tillema, is owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Peter Miller. He has nine wins in 25 starts, earnings of $658,440 and is coming off a third in the Aug. 18 Green Flash. He was second in this race last year.

E Squared is by Square Eddie, out of the Ten Most Wanted mare Silar Rules, was bred by owner Reddam Racing and is trained by Doug O’Neill. He has two wins in eight starts, earnings of $183,735 and is coming off an eighth in the Sept. 24 Oklahoma Derby.

Tribalist is by Tribal Rule, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Ultimate Summer, was bred by Dutko & Abrams, is owned by Abrams, Dutko or Paran and is trained by Blake Heap. He has four wins in seven starts, earnings of $240,900 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 29 Eddie D.
