2-Year-Old Fillies Square Off in CTBA Stakes

DEL MAR, Calif. (July 29, 2025) – First-out winners Liberation and Tapatia Mia and impressive fellow California-bred Lina’s Angel are among the entrants in Sunday’s $100,000 California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Stakes for Golden State Series-eligible 2-year-old fillies at Del Mar.

Jasmina is by Listing, out of the Momentum mare Charred Rare, was bred by owner Reddam Racing and is trained by Simon Callaghan. She has one win in two starts, earnings of $28,560 and is coming off a June 28 maiden win.

CTBA January Sale graduate Lady Victoria is by Sir Prancealot, out of the Stormy River mare Weekfair, was bred by Kehner Thoroughbreds, is owned by Dale Brewer and trained by Jesus Mendoza. The $6,000 purchase at the CTBA January Sale from the Dehesa  Farms consignment has one win in three starts, earnings of $14,800 and is coming off a July 4 maiden claiming win.

Liberation is by Omaha Beach, out of the Lonhro mare Ponytail, was bred by Richard Barton Enterprises, is owned by Hall Racing, West Point Thoroughbreds or Barker and is trained by John Sadler. She won her lone Start May 24 with earnings of $36,000.

Lino’s Angel is by Uncle Lino, out of the Stay Thirsty mare Endless Thirst, was bred by owner and trainer Edwin Alvarez. She has one win in two starts, earnings of $50,700 and is coming off a July 18 maiden win.

Mustang Knicky is by Knicks Go, out of the Into Mischief mare Vision of Justice, was bred by Terry Lovingier, is owned by London or Lovingier and trained by Steve Knapp. She is a maiden making her second start with earnings of $1,600.

What’s a Good Name is by Grazen, out of the Diabolical mare That’s a Good Deal, was bred by owners J. Kirk and Judy Robison ans is trained by Peter Miller. She has one win in two starts, earnings of $50,250 and is coming off a July 19 maiden win.

CTBA Winter Mixed Sale graduate My Love Caroline is by Stay Thirsty, out of the Zensational mare Spring Moon, was bred by Terry Lovingier, is owned by Tricar Stables and trained by Joege Periban. The $18,000 purchase at the CTBA Mixed Winter Sale from the Lovacres consignment has one win in two starts, earnings of $42,300 and is coming off a June 14 maiden win.

Tapatia Mia is by Stay Thirsty, out of the Rio Verde mare Sweet Lips Pooh, was bred by Terry Lovingier, is owned by Lovingier, Moroney or Ryan, et al, and trained by Steve Knapp. She won her lone start May 2 with earnings of $36,000.
