ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 23, 2015) – Defending champion Big Bane Theory, returning from a seven-month break, takes on fellow California-bred graded winner Alert Bay in Sunday’s $200,000 Grade II City of Hope Mile Stakes at Santa Anita.
Big Bane Theory is by Artie Schiller, out of the Alysheba mare Shebane, was bred by owners Scott Gross and Mark Devereaux and is trained by Carla Gaines. He has four wins in 16 starts, earnings of $381,140 and is making his first start since finishing sixth in the Feb. 21 Sensational Star. He won this race last year.
Alert Bay is by City Zip, out of the Dushyantor mare Hickory, was bred by Thomas Bell and Ross McLeod, is owned by Peter Redekop and is trained by Blaine Wright. He has nine wins in 18 starts, earnings of $834,495 and is coming off a win in the Sept. 7 Rolling Green.
Poshsky is by Vronsky, out of the Bold Badgett mare Pinky’s Posh, was bred by Old English Rancho and Berumen, is owned by Silver Ranch Stable and Wachtel Stable and is trained by Peter Miller. He has four wins in 19 starts, earnings of $206,420 and is coming off a second in an Aug. 22 optional claimer. He was eighth in this race last year.
