SAN MARCOS, Calif. (Jan. 27, 2022) — New sire MOQUEST comes to California for the 2022 breeding season. He’s a son of Uncle Mo, out of the famous mare, Seeking Gabrielle. Uncle Mo is one of the best sires of America and now an emerging sire of sires. He is the 2020 Leading Sire of GSWs with 14, including 2021 G1 winner Golden Pal, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and G1 winner Yaupon. His yearlings in 2021 sold for $1,600,000, $1,000,000, $800,000, etc.
MOQUEST is a full-brother to Kentucky Derby winner, Nyquist, who is the #1 cumulative second-crop sire by earnings, 11 GS 2-year-olds from his first two crops, more than any other stallion ever. Nyquist stands for a fee of $55,000 at Darley. His latest 2-year-old, Slow Down Andy, recently won the G2 $300,000 Los Alamitos Futurity, earning 10 qualifying points to the Kentucky Derby. He is trained by Doug O’Neal and bred & owned by Reddam Racing.
MOQUEST was a $650,000 Keeneland September yearling purchased by Coolmore. He is a gorgeous, correct, perfectly balanced young stallion, who exudes class just like his brother, Nyquist. Unfortunately, his career was cut short by injury early his 2-year-old year and he was taken out of training unraced.
MOQUEST has a lot to offer to the breeders of California, bringing exceptional value, along with a proven pedigree. He will be a great edition to the state. All Uncle Mo’s stallions today at stud have produced enormous success at the racetrack with their prodigy, Nyquist, Outwork and Laoban. With the addition of up-and-coming sires Motown and Yaupon.
MOQUEST will be heavily supported in the breeding shed by his owners, Craig Netwig & Debra Barkley, who will breed a number of their mares to him this year. He will also cross well with Unusual Heat mares, with Uncle Mo’s Mo Forza a prime example.
MOQUEST will stand in 2022 for $4,500 LF/Stands & Nurses and is a registered California-bred stallion and is Breeders’ Cup stallion nominated. The farm will be announced at a later date.
