Ima Happy Cat Seeks Third Hastings Win

AUBURN, Wash. (June 23, 2022) – Two-time winner of the race Ima Happy Cat, fellow stakes winner Daffodil Sweet and fellow California-bred Maybe I Will are entered in Sunday’s $50,000 Hastings Stakes for fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

Ima Happy Cat is by is by Smiling Tiger, out of the Wekiva Springs mare Infernal McGoon, was bred by Dale Mahlum, is owned by Sue & Tim Spooner and trained by Dan Markle. She has 10 wins in 34 starts, earnings of $318,239 and is coming off a win in a May 22 optional claimer. She won this race last year and in 2019.

Daffodil Sweet is by is by Ministers Wild Cat, out of the Lion Heart mare Easy On My Heart, was bred by Michael Terry, is owned by One Horse Will Do Corp., Chris Stenslie and Mutiny Bay Backstretch and is trained by Niccolo Trojani. She has nine wins in 16 starts, earnings of $177,171 and is coming off a second in a June 12 optional claimer. She was seventh in this race last year

Maybe I Will is by Will Take Charge, out of the Henny Hughes mare My Due Process, was bred by Thomas Bachman, is owned by Fairview and trained by Blaine Wright. She has three wins in 11 starts, earnings of $97,826 and is coming off a fourth in a May 20 allowance.
