ARCADIA, Calif. (May 25, 2024) – Grand Slam Smile continued the favorite fest on Gold Rush Day with an emphatic win in Saturday’s $125,000 Melair Stakes for Golden State Series-eligible 3-year-old fillies.
Grand Slam Smile is by Smiling Tiger, out of the Grand Slam mare Royal Grand Slam, was bred by owners Mr. & Mrs. Larry Williams and is trained by Steven Specht.
She has five wins in seven starts, earnings of $404,900 and was coming off a win in the Jan. 13 Leigh Ann Howard California Cup Oaks, one of her four stakes wins.
Grand Slam Smile ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:45.70 and won by five lengths over Safa, with Loretta Lynn third.
