AUBURN, Wash. (July 21, 2024) – Slew’s Tiz Whiz, a Washington-bred son of California stallion Slew’s Tiznow, won Sunday’s $50,000 Governor’s Stakes at Emerald Downs for the third consecutive year by dead-heating with Arma d’Oro.
Slew’s Tiz Whiz, who rallied furiously along the rail, is out of the Rosberg mare Ros’s Girl. He and Arma d’Oro, sped the 6 ½ furlongs in 1:14.91 in a field of nine.
Slew’s Tiz Whiz has nine wins in 22 starts and earnings of $298,457. The three-peat is one shy of Handy N Bold’s stakes record four wins from 1999-2003.
The Governor’s Stakes is the prep for the Aug. 11 Longacres Mile, a race in which Slew’s Tiz Whiz has finished third the last two years.
