ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2024) – Storm the Court, upset winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita in 2019, recently returned to trainer Peter Eurton’s stable in California and may start later this fall before going to stud in California in 2025.
Storm the Court will stand at Eclipse Thoroughbred Training Center in Buellton, Calif.
A 7-year-old horse by Court Vision, Storm the Court has won 2 of 29 starts and earned $1,426,003. Storm the Court left Eurton’s care in the winter of 2022-23 and had since been based with trainers Tom Amoss, William E. Morey, and most recently with Lacey Gaudet.
Owned by the partnership of David Bernsen, Susanna Wilson, and Eurton, Storm the Court was fourth in an allowance race at Laurel for Gaudet in his last start on Sept. 22.
Storm the Court was 45-1 in the 2019 BC Juvenile. As a 3-year-old in 2020, Storm the Court was third behind Authentic in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita in March and then had a disrupted season caused by the pandemic. He was sixth of 15 behind Authentic in a delayed running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs that September.
Storm the Court is one of three new stallions at Mike and Angie Scully’s Eclipse Thoroughbred Training in 2025, along with the Irish import Henry Adams, a 3-year-old colt by No Nay Never who was third in the Group 3 Tyros Stakes in Ireland in 2022; and Joey Freshwater, a two-time Grade 3 winner by Jimmy Creed.
The farm also stands Grazen, one of the leading stallions in California, and Tough Sunday, who was privately bred to a small number of mares in recent years and will now be part of the commercial operation, according to Angie Scully.
