NorCal Sale Grads Vie in Bart Heller Stakes

PLEASANTON, Calif. (Oct. 16, 2024) – Northern California Yearling Sale graduates Breve and Jessebear, and fellow California-bred Mars Magic, are entered in Saturday’s $75,000 Bart Heller Stakes for fillies and mares at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

Breve is by Will Take Charge, out of the A.P. Indy mare Artfully, was bred by Legacy Ranch, is owned by Hanna, Mark A., Hanna, Maria, Page, Scott, Page, Cecilia, Tootle, Herbert, Tootle, Janet, Vendosdel, Eric and Vendosdel, Sabrina and trained by Manuel Badilla. The $35,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase out of the Woodbridge Farm consignment has three wins in eight starts, earnings of $80,353 and is coming off back-to-back allowance wins.

Jessebear is by Misremembered, out of the Crowd Pleaser mare Cagey Girl, was bred by Richard Barton Enterprises, is owned by McLean Racing Stables and trained by Aggie Ordonez. The $6,000 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale from the Barton Thoroughbreds consignment has two wins in 15 starts, earnings of $146,220 and is coming off a Sept. 20 optional claiming win.

Mars Magic is by Danzing Candy, out of the Decarchy mare Star Field, was bred by owner Packsaddle Road and is trained by D. Wayne Baker. She has two wins in seven starts, earnings of $55,588 and is coming off a Sept. 7 allowance win.
